Finding a place for my poetry motivated the production of this six-track EP. My free-spirited musical friend, Blake Hobson, twisted the sound of my readings with his cinematic and esoteric soundscapes. Midway through recording, we were challenged by a hard drive failure, forcing us to either recreate the missing pieces or entirely reconceive. The delay nevertheless gave us proper space to center ourselves and examine the project’s direction. A huge fan of Michael Gira’s Swans, I jokingly and then seriously sought out Doug Henderson, who had mastered The Seer. Blake and I were excited to see that Doug was glad to list our album as a product of his work on the micro-moose-berlin website. In a nifty turn of events, I was able to personally deliver a CD to some of my favorite artists at concerts: Swans at Cat’s Cradle, Chapel Hill, NC; Julianna Hatfield, Neighborhood Theater, Charlotte, NC; and Ben Frost, Neighborhood Theatre, Charlotte, NC.
Not only was this the first time my writings had materialized into a final form, as a body of expression, it was a boon to my habit of collecting audio samples and fielding recordings that several were used during production. Below you’ll find a link to one of the six YouTube videos that I made for the EP by including extra original artwork as the still image. The cover art picture below links to the official album playlist on YouTube. Please consider purchasing the album or tracks on Bandcamp or iTunes, or listen on YouTube or Spotify. Blake and I have CDs available—if interested, message me on Facebook.

"Dallas, Early Spring"
I recorded “Dallas, Early Spring” when the main characters and storyline for my novella, Planet Z13: The Black Tome of Character, were just emerging, so this track resonates with that time of my thick, ill health, yet the molting of winter into spring. A Zoom H1 captured the recording from my upstairs bedroom window—it rested against the aluminum parts of the window frame and picked up impressive modulations of muffler noise from nearby Dallas High Shoals Highway as the wall vibrated from the cycling dishwasher that ran in the kitchen below.
